After drinking in dozens of shops all over the U.S. it 's rare you find something UNIQUE that 's also delicious AND not untrue to the brew! There are turmeric and rose and caramel lattes all over, but usually these (delicious) additions drown the espresso. Not so here. Menno Tea grows its own four types of mint and from them brews a mint syrup that 's used in its lattes and other coffee and tea drinks. I only had a Mint Latte with Mint Syrup and Mint whipped cream and thus can 't speak to anything else. But oh WHAT a Latte! The mint (note this is SPEAR not PEPPER mint) is a delicate note balanced atop a very solid latte. Each sip was lush and perfect. The whipped cream as well was delicately flavored and delicious. I got there shortly before close and thus the barista/owner (I believe) gave me a Whoopie Pie Mint of course which looked fabulous but as I don 't really eat sugar I have saved it to share and will update after it 's tried. I also bought some of their tea and will be trying it sooner rather than later and will share commentary. The barista/owner was knowledgeable, kind, lovely, caring and helpful. The shop is airy and very, very comfortable: yes with wifi. It also sells coffee, tea, tee shirts, hats, cups and other gewgaws as well as GORGEOUS cards and art by the owner 's? Mother a VERY accomplished artist in the local Amish style. Not only is the art gorgeous but the printer knows her or his craft and the ink is deep and the cards like oil paintings. If I lived in the area I 'd be a regular in a week. Practical Commentary to share: A) be aware you PARK on the SIDES of the building but the DOOR to enter is by the patio which faces the main road, so just be aware where you 're going. B) They 're ONLY open Fri. Sat. as far as I can tell, which makes sense as this is clearly a spot for visitors, less locals not a comment on who 'd go, just my thought on the Amish/Mennonite nature of the locals who may be less likely to frequent such cafes. C) The ONLY negative (to me): while there is a bathroom, it is UP a LONG flight of stairs and thus rather inconvenient and NOT disabled friendly. It 's just the nature of a repurposed home, but just be aware. When I go back to the area it will be the FIRST place on my agenda to visit.
Nice interior and pleasant service, but horrid tasting coffee. Their cold brew coffee with mint seemed to be a house specialty, but that combination produced a disgusting flavor. Their chocolate mint whoopie pie was good, but stay away from that coffee! Yikes! I can't see them being in business much longer.
I absolutely loved this cafe. I had the mint mocha latte. It was so good. The baristas were great. Definitely go to Menno tea. You will love it.
Do yourself a favor and DEFINITELY stop at this gem as you cruise through Amish Country on Route 30! You will not regret the truly unique and charming experience. Enjoy the modern, airy, and cozy atmosphere perfect for rejuvenating after a long drive, stimulating your creative juices, meeting with a friend or reading a good book. I eagerly encourage you to try a signature mint beverage featuring PA local specialty roaster, One Village Coffee. It will surely blow you away and leave you wanting more! Nothing quite like it anywhere else. Hans was incredibly friendly and so genuinely passionate about the coffee, tea, and community. He gave a personal tour of the mint field (6 varieties! out back which was just so cool! I will never forget Menno Tea and would drive far out of my way to come back.
The mint mocha is absolutely amazing. It's rich and foamy but the hint of mint gives it a light fresh finish. I could drink one every day. The cafe space is neat and clean and a great spot to rest and chat for a bit. I highly recommend it. I also enjoyed talking with one of the owners, Hans, about how their business got started. He is very friendly and eager to share about the interesting work that they are doing.
