By Yol - Bielefeld

Made a short trip over to Bielefeld today to try the first of several restaurants on my list. By Yol is a short walk (ca. 200 meters) from the entrance to the main train station in Bielefeld. Outside doesn 't look like much. Thru the door you are immediately in the area where the days specials are in stainless steel pans keeping warm. A tempting variety of vegetable and vegie with meat dishes. To the left is a dining area. It looks like the main dining room (largest) is upstairs but there is a smaller are on the gound floor. Already knowing what I wanted I ordered without the menu. My starter was the tripe soup (Iskembe) that was the best I have had since I have been visiting Turkish restaurants. It was a very generous bowl soup with a lot of tripe. Nice large pieces and the soup itself was nicely flavored. I added a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and some pul biber from the container on the table. Perfection! Next came the Adana kebap plate with two skewers of meat on a bed of Turkish rice accompanied by a small salad, grilled green pepper and tomato. The meat had the usual spicing and was tender and juicy. A most enjoyable lunch indeed. This restaurant defined a new, high standard for me in Turkish restaurants. Service was friendly and attentive. Definitely this place cannot be classified as a high level food place,but all food is fresh enough , delicious enough . The stuff is friendly enough . The atmosphere is really authentic.and very generous portions for reasonable price. If really hungry and wanna eat , go there.

We visited By Yol on a Friday night and despite the place being packed we were served promptly. The waiter was absolutely charming and the food was served quickly. We shared an appetiser plate (picture attached) and everybody loved the creamy dips and tasty veg. The main dishes were very good as well and the portion sizes were enormous. I only managed half of mine and asked to take the rest home with me as it was far too good to go to waste. We will definitely come back!

Essen war top wie immer aber... in meiner scharfen sauce zum essen war ein rest vom aufkleber drin "made in Holland" stand drauf! wahrscheinlich von den tomaten, habe es der Bedienung gesagt aber den hat es nicht mal interessiert. das geht mal garnicht! da gehe ich aus Prinzip nicht mehr hin, obwohl das Essen immer ok war. aber so ein verhalten unterstütze ich leider nicht.

Sehr leckeres Essen, gute innerstädtische Lage die trainspotten ermöglicht. Häufig recht voll, was dazu führt das die Bedienung zuweilen etwas länger braucht und es nicht leise ist.
