The food was pleasant enough but somehow I felt I was in the way. The staff were getting the restaurant ready for breakfast the next day. Okay the time was getting on but I was assured that it was still open and that I had plenty of time to order a meal. Couldn 't quite put my finger on it but I felt I was definitely 'in the way '. I was surprised that a 'discretionary ' service charge had been added to the bill as I was unaware that there would be, especially as there was also a prompt for a gratuity.
Towards the end of our meal, we were all laughing so much that if we didn't, we would have been very sad! Somewhere along the way, my husband and I ended up sharing our meals - I had some of his, and he had some of mine. We had to pass our plates back and forth to piece together a complete meal. Unfortunately, my main course was missing the correct sauce and I was offered HP sauce from a bottle instead. The desserts were not enjoyable at all. We only had our drink order taken once and the entire experience was slow, even though there were only a few other diners in the restaurant.
The staff at this restaurant were friendly, but I found the drinks to be overpriced. A small glass of orange juice cost me £2.05. When I arrived for breakfast, there was no one to greet me at first, so I had to walk in and find a seat on my own. Three ladies eventually appeared to assist me. However, the restaurant was very clean and well-maintained. The staff were attentive and efficient.
When we used to stay here regularly the best food was usually the room service menu. Decided to see if Traders had improved, no such luck I'm afraid. Vegetable soup was so full of Garlic couldnt eat it, at least waitress took it off bill! The pork escalope filled with cheese was just about edible , weird cheese used and served with half a dozen green beans and chunky chips thank heaven] Breakfast was usual Holiday Inn fare.
