I had made a reservation in advance before our show at the theater for a party of five including 3 kids. some guy clearly not a waitstaff member, or a hostess said too bad, said he is seating. Only first come first serve. Long story short, we got a table eventually as I had no idea where else to go and I had the kids. Service was very slow. Only one waitress. It was not a pleasant experience. The food was cold and not very good. I don't blame the waitress at all. She did her best, but was overwhelmed. We still gave her a 20% but that's it. I had avoid this establishment due to staffing issues.
I took my Mother there for Italian food, which over the years was fairly reliable with menu options, value quality of food. This visit was terribly disappointing on almost every level and we won't return again. We both ordered Eggplant Parmesan one side Caesar Salad. The Eggplant Parm was covered with a scant amount of Marinara Sauce and overflowed on the plate. Unfortunately it was undercooked, difficult to cut through rubbery. We both struggled to eat a few bites took the leftovers home hoping to resuscitate the eggplant. Bottom line is the Beverly Bertucci's was 3/4 empty at 7pm on a Saturday night, atmosphere felt like yesteryear depressing, and Service was choppy. We regret our choice to dine there.
I gave service one star, not due to the server, she was wonderful, but due to the fact that we waited almost ten minutes to be seated when the restaurant was practically empty. There was no one around to seat us. While we were eating a couple of people arrived, waited for at least ten minutes to be seated, and when no one helped them, they left.
Two stars because the pizza and rolls are still really good, even if you have to wait forever to get them. Unfortunately, though, it's been taking longer and longer for our food to be ready. As any fellow parent can attest, when you've got hungry kids waiting for the food to arrive and you decided on takeout in the first place because it's a busy day so you're hoping to pick up something quick and good that'll get everyone fed before having to rush headlong into the bedtime routine this is a deal breaker.Sorry Bertucci's, you've got to work on your staffing. I can't blame the employees in the store, as they're clearly trying their best given the situation, so I can only assume that the management of this chain isn't doing enough to attract people to want to work there. PLEASE don't punish the employees for the horrible situation in store, with a constant flow of disgruntled people waiting 30 60 minutes past the promised pick up time for their food. I always try to extend kindness and patience to them... because it's very rarely the fault of the customer facing employees when there is a failure this egregious. All that being said, I won't be returning here until I start to see reviews mentioning an improvement in wait times and service. Beverly has enough other excellent options for pizza where I can depend on my food being ready at the promised time that we can easily spare ourselves the stress of frayed nerves that inevitably results from the meaninglessness of Bertucci's ridiculously unpredictable pickup times. We can simply bring our business elsewhere.(Management: Thank you so much for your reply! I do appreciate your willingness to share this feedback. Again, I just want to be clear that the food was good, and the staff were not unfriendly or unhelpful... it just creates a very difficult situation for my family when pickup times are meaningless and we could likely be waiting an additional hour for food.
I may never order from this establishment no more. Bertucci's has always been one of my favorite places to go whenever I'm in the mood for a simple meal such as a salad with pizza. I ordered a take-out meal yesterday the salad was wilted and the pizza tasted not so good.
