Good eating with a reasonable wine list. good location. friendly staff.
This is our favorite place for the breakfast good eating and a wonderful view of the best of bedford, on the river. the service is usually exceptional, while the epidemic was the only place we felt comfortable. Today, however, was a withdrawal after we placed our order, the beverage order of the breakfast came within 5 minutes, but the food lasted another 40 minutes and then arrived after we remembered the personal. a free cup hot tee to enjoy with our breakfast would have been most welcome, but disappointing was not offered. Even the best can have a free day so we are unsurpassed and are looking forward to our next visit if we hope the normal service will be resumed. I look forward to updating them.
Absolutely beautiful staff, so friendly and attentive to our table. thank you for making my dad's 85th birthday special
I had brunch with the girls. We’d booked for 11am. We waited initial 11:10am without being given a menu and we were aware breakfast menu ends at 11:30. At 11:10 I asked if we could order and I was told breakfast service had ended. I’m guessing I looked frustrated because the server asked if we’d booked a table. When I said that we’d booked a table for 11am specifically for brunch she relented and took our order. The food arrived quickly but we weren’t given and cutlery or sauces. By the time we’d waited for cutlery which wasn’t forthcoming, then chased up the cutlery, the packed eggs had become hard and the rest of the food was quite cold. We are it anyway as repeating the whole task would’ve most probably resulted in the same way. My friend asked for a skinny latte, when the drinks were read back to us the server had remembered them wrongly as she hasn’t written them down. My friend ended up with a regular latte which she drank for ease. To their credit, they appeared to be grossly understaffed. With the cost of living going up, the public are expecting more for for their money in terms of quality and service. Service at this venue has always been “hit and miss” in my opinion but it’s a lovely venue and if you sit outside it’s a lovely way to see the world go by. We didn’t create a fuss about the service as given the distinct lack of staff, they are trying to do what they can. Trying to get experienced, reliable staff who want to work in hospitality and work weekends is getting more and more difficult.
