Do not accept reservations makes it difficult to reserve a place on the grill. Not sure to come first, first service is the way to go on the grill side. Maybe for general seating, but the grill/the conversation should be as it was always. It is usually not used unless a reservation is made to sit there. I see no value walking into the restaurant on the off-channels I come to “might” to sit there when it is the REASON I went there. Since this is not part of the “regular” culinary experience, it should not be treated equally. If you no longer want to accept the reservations, good.... but update your website! Misinformation is frustrating.
Beautiful atmosphere and super affable service. The menu was fresh and lovely. Will definitely recommend this place to my friends. Appropriate prices and generous portions. Good work.
My boss and I were a little hesitant to eat sushi in Bardstown, but we had a risk and were so glad we made it! This is an underestimated small place in a somewhat older shopping center, very inconceivable on the outside. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, although there was a slight language barrier that led to confusion during the order, but nothing was omitted or misplaced. The sushi menu is many pages long and the reels themselves are quite creative! We enjoyed the Bardstown Roll, the cream cheese, roasted chicken, spicy crabs, and was covered with fried snapper. By the way, we both ordered the shrimp frying, the fine dining room style was as what usually comes in a Chinese to go box. These shrimps ~5 medium size) were marinated and grilled teriyaki style, then put on the bed of fried rice not all mixed together. It was absolutely delicious and a huge part. There were some confusion about whether the lunch specialties come with a soup AND/OR a salad menu says OR), but I say decide for the soup. I got the salad and I think it had about 4 pieces of chopped salad in it; pretty meash.
This place connects another restaurant I've ever tried for best sushi. If you're in the St. Matthew area, try Togo Sushi. But if you're in Bardstown, try Umami. Umatilla is better than Mammy's kitchen and the Talbott Tavern and I like both of these restaurants. Umami could be my favorite restaurant in Bardstown. Hard to say between Alexander Bullits and Umami.
Really good food, a diamond in the rough!!! The chef we had did a great job with the stunts and acts performed while cooking. We are excited to come back, and I highly recommend anyone in the area to stop by. Great sushi and margaritas too!
