Poor service. Advertised Items on menu not available. Atmosphere was dismal. Not what we expected from an Irish pub. Staff was unfriendly.
The menu stated that it came with bread to mop up the gravy. There was no bread or gravy. Most Irish stews are tender pieces of meat with vegetables in a delicious Guinness gravy. This was a dish of what looked like pie filling with a blob of mashed potato on top. It was hot and tasty, however, I could only eat about a half of it because it was literally a dish of meat. The young lady at the bar was lovely.
My wife and I have travelled widely and eaten meals at many places from fine dining to pub grub. We arrived at Irish Murphy 's last night with anticipation as this place had been recommended by our accomodation host especially the Guinness pie . The restaurant was quiet . The hostess took our drinks orders and barely gave us time to finish our sentences. She did not smile and mentioned on three occasions over the evening how the venue had had a big night last night I ordered the Guinness pie and my wife ordered the Belfast Burger . Shortly thereafter the waitress returned with our drinks and informed us that the burgers were no longer on the menu due to the big night . My wife then ordered the sausage and mash. The waitress who told us she was the supervisor) left our table and was completely dismissive of us as customers. After dinner we were told there were no desserts on the menu due to the big night I ordered an Irish coffee with Jameson whisky and my wife decided to have a cocktail. We were almost the last people in the place My order arrived first. The Irish coffee was not made correctly it was basically a latte with whisky on the side. I explained this to the waitress who appeared very irritated and snapped at me that 's how we make them here She then grabbled the coffee from the table and stormed off with it without a word. We waited another half an hour. The barman delivered my wife 's cocktail and was gentle and apologetic for the delay. The angry waitress returned with the coffee which looked the same as the previous one and slammed it down on the table without a word. It was cold. We were both stunned at her attitude and could not understand how or why we were been treated this way? I would normally have asked to speak with the person in charge but as she appeared to be that person I could see no point. The polite bar man who was apparently new) asked us how our drinks were and if he could offer us anything else. By now the waitress was closing up the venue It was a most uncomfortable and abusive situation to be in . I have never come across an individual in hospitality with such an attitude. Senior management should read this and consider changing her to back of house.
We had the Irish Stew and Guinness Pie. Authentic, yummo, and good sized meals. Washed down with a Kilkenny beer. The service was fast, wasn’t expensive and atmosphere great.
