I really can’t understand why a restaurant wouldn’t make their own tortillas. They had very little color and were quite bland. The refried beans were also unremarkable and tasted like they came from a can. The salsa was tasty, but it could have used a bit more heat. I noticed they were offering breakfast chips and salsa for $1. I’m not sure who would order chips and salsa for breakfast, but it seemed odd that they charged for something that is typically free at other places. On a positive note, I was impressed that they actually used cheddar cheese on their tacos instead of the usual American cheese, which some folks refer to as “government cheese” and mistakenly call authentic. The carrots that came with the meal were crispy but could have used a little more seasoning. They did provide extra tortillas, but knowing they weren’t homemade, I decided to pass on the second one. Overall, the food was decent, but I was hoping for a little more from our breakfast experience.
The experience here is simply heavenly! The customer service is fantastic, and the food is absolutely to die for! The first picture features the el pastor tacos, which are bursting with flavor and just the right amount of spice. The second image showcases the flautas, with crispy roasted tortillas filled with perfectly seasoned chicken and accompanied by rice (though I could have done without the extra rice). Lastly, the enchiladas were rich in flavor—cheesy and wonderfully soft.
We were looking forward to dining here after hearing great things about the place. However, we ended up waiting 10 minutes without any service. While a kind busboy tried to check on us, the server just passed by without acknowledgment. It was a disappointing first impression, and it left us questioning what the overall dining experience might be like.
Very bad service by ana. she has never smiled. I sat 15 minutes on my table with chips and salsa, no water and no menu. When she finally brought me a menu, she came back in 5 minutes and asked me if I were ready. I didn't tell her yet. then she let me sit there. finally took my order and my food came, I sat there without cute. she never filled my tee again. I never have the water I asked. when I was obviously finished eating, I sat there and she wasn't where I could be found. then I had to ask another waitress on my scary. After all this was about 2 o'clock. there was hardly anyone in the restaurant, and she wasn't where. When she came back to my table, she tried to take away my dessert when I wasn't finished, and she tried to take the leak I hadn't signed yet. I told her I wasn't done with it yet. I've been thinking if she deserves a tipp at all. then she had the nerve to come back and hurry and ask me to sign the ticket. she didn't deserve a tip, but I never did that, so she got a little one when she took the ticket out of my hand. that was my first time at this place and I live only 2 miles away, but I will never be again. She doesn't even deserve a star.
Our waitress was so pleasant and inviting. My friend and I were visiting from out of town so we had never been here so we took awhile deciding and the waitress was so patient it helped me not feel stressed about taking a moment. The mole poblano was DELICIOUS and she even brought out a side of onion for me. The drinks were also so good. My friend and I got a total of 4 cocktails and they were all well priced and delicious. Next time I visit Austin I'm going here again!
