Spaceman's view of the skyline at sunset were nice and pleasant, although the execution of the beverage service, not so much. Unorganized, split, and 4 flustered bartender for not even a full bar and terrace. We tried to be good males with a simple order of a nice tequila, poured straight and a house margarita, but were disappointed when the margarita was down and overly sweet. On the other hand, dinner at Mt Royal was a pleasant rebound. Service was excellent and attentive, if necessary. The Martini was ideal. The food was fresh, tasteful and timed accordingly. Even the boss touched the table to inquire about our experience. I think if Spaceman could optimize steps of the service with some confidence, this would make a great basis for Atlanta's hospitality experience.
Very attentive service. Food subpar. Perhaps the worst steak I have ever eaten at a high end restaurant. Drowned in spices it was inedible.
Found the tartare to be under seasoned. Got the ribeye, steak was cooked well, a tender, juicy, but also a bit under seasoned. Lyonnaise Salad was perfect, and poutine good as well.
Food was outstanding but they were very short staffed. 1 server, 1 bartender. Everything took a very long time, from water to drinks or ordering. That's the only knock the food was very good. If they figure out staffing this will be an easy 5 star.
While we have enjoyed Hugh Atcheson restaurants for many years, Mount Royal was a big disappointment. Starting with the valet parking situation at the hotel entrance where one of the hotel employees was arguing with the 3rd party valet company attendant when we arrived. We waited 10 minutes to have an attendant approach us. At this point, he spent several more minutes explaining the valet company’s App and that we needed to download the app at dinner and complete all the information before paying for and ordering our car for pick- up post- meal. Oh, and btw, there is a $10 charge plus CONVENIENCE fee not including gratuity for the pleasure of enjoying this parking circus! While the ambiance of the restaurant is modern shriek, all of the tables surround the bar so essentially you are eating at cocktail tables in the bar. While our waiter, CJ was attentive, knowledgeable and very sympathetic with regard to the parking fiasco, the menus is very limited. You will find 4 cuts of beef, a chicken dish, lobster, salmon and a vegan offering. My wife ordered the strip and I had the salmon. While the steak was cooked correctly, it lacked rich flavor that you would associate with a USDA prime cut of beef. Lesson to remember: if you want a classic steakhouse experience, go to a classic steakhouse of which Atlanta has several outstanding offerings. My salmon, while attractively plated, was extremely under cooked, basically raw other than the exterior. The latkes were bland and not worthy of what you might expect. Overall, the food was average at best given the inflated menu prices. Sorry to be so critical as we have enjoyed several great meals at Five Ten but Mount Royal was an expensive disappointment. There are way too many other dining options in ATL to settle for this sub- par experience. P.S…. After downloading the park app paying for parking, the app informed us “ due to high volume, we are unable to process your request”! What a great ending!
