ASK Italian Ashby De La Zouch

We frequent this restaurant often to meet with three other couples because it is conveniently located and the food is usually quite good. However, on our most recent visit, we had a few complaints. The starter, described as Brioche with tomatoes, looked more like tomatoes on toast to three members of our group. I ordered the butternut squash risotto, which was truly revolting - it resembled a sloppy mess with no resemblance to rice in appearance or taste. The staff graciously replaced it with apologies, and I opted for the chicken and mushroom risotto instead, which was delicious. Despite our complaints, we try to refrain from being too critical as it is not nice.

The restaurant didn't know about the booking you said they didn't get notification from open table to say that a booking was made???

This small restaurant is always busy whenever I visit. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. My friends and I always have a good time when we dine here. The service is quick and the food is freshly prepared. Overall, Ask Italian gets a big thumbs up from us.

Although the restaurant was only 35% full, the service was still creepy. There were only three of us dining, so the lack of attention to a larger table was unjustified. The food took 15 minutes to arrive after ordering, and it was just okay, nothing exceptional. I would not dine here again.
