It's hidden in the back of the Disneyland Hotel (by the pool)Best to valet your car (3 hours free, with bar stamp)It's an outdoor/indoor service and at night they light all the tiki lamps and fire place. The music is very Disney like. It's not a loud place, more like somewhere you relax after being with at Disney all day.We had a group 4 so we tried a bunch of the signature drinks and did the up-charge for the souvenir cups. Everything was pretty good, and we also ordered 2 rounds of casamigo shots.Bill came out to $400 bucks (we didn't expect it to be that much) but it's Disney.
Last night in the parks and we walked our tired Disney legs over for a late meal. Wow, was it great! I had the pu pu plater(wings, dumplings, fried green beans and macaroni salad , girlfriend had the Hawaiian platter(short ribs, rice, macaroni salad and cold slaw . Service was great! Food was great! I love that Polynesian BBQ sauce(I think it’s teriyaki based? . Washed mine down with a very rummy drink called the Krakatoa. Highly recommended stop! We did have some confusion over what seats were Tangaroa Terrace and which were Trader Sam’s…just ask the host for a table no matter what and avoid the back and forth.
Want to feel special on your birthday? Then, be sure to bring that special someone to Trader Sam's!The atmosphere is very tropical, even on the cold SoCal days. It was pretty crowded, so be prepared to wait for your server. You can't help it when you go to a lounge next door to Disney! Our server asked what the occasion was and I shared that it was my partner's birthday. She proceeded to make him feel special by brining a button and a dole whip to eat. How nice of her!As for the drinks, they are decent, but pricey. This is also to be expected for a lounge close to Disney. I got the Pago Pago and my partner got the shipwreck on the rocks. They were tasty, but not strong. Overall, I would come back here. It's a great landing place to go to prior to going to downtown Disney.
I'm glad I had the opportunity to try this but I wouldn't go again due to the food. Disneyland and DT Disney can be a hit or miss. Mainly with food you go for the experience. Trader Sam's has a cool tiki bar and the workers were kind enough but the food was overpriced and bland. We couldn't be seated inside so we sat outside which definitely has a different atmosphere since you miss the tiki vibes. Originally we went here for the drinks but got hungry so we all ended up ordering dinner. The food is Hawaiian/Asian. I got the ramen and it was very bland even after asking for hot sauce. I think instant ramen tastes better. Others at my table got galbi and said L and L Hawaiian BBQ tasted better. The drinks were your average fruity tiki drink.Overall I think it might be worth trying once for the experience but I would not return.
