Jacaranda - Altea

Or better it is the sight. food and service is nothing special, neither bad nor good. I would qualify this restaurant as very regular and so they offer a facet.

This is the fourth or fifth restaurant on the same site, the Sierra de Altea Golf Club. The previous one was called Don Cayo, reviewed elsewhere on Tripadvisor and now closed. Jacaranda opened September 2019 and judging by our lunch there today is one of the best restaurants in the area. The food is excellent, the service fast and friendly, the prices reasonable (not cheap though) and the rooms and terrace smart and with nice views. The problems are the location (not far, but not on a main road and without signage), the unappealing access (great lighted entrance leading to a little lift which you have to enter to discover the floor the restaurant is on: no sign for the restaurant in the entrance), and the fact that lately the phone hasn't been working. There's no need to panic though, because it's a big place and there are few guests so far. We shared an excellent goat cheese salad with cranberry coulis and apple compote, then the most expensive item on the menu, the Galician beef tenderloin at €22. The tenderloin was probably the best I've ever had in Spain, large, perfectly cooked, tender and accompanied by little potatoes and veg, a celery concoction and a Béarnaise sauce. The house wines were good and reasonably priced, and they have some expensive ones too. Or you can get Heineken or Paulaner on tap if you want. Service was great, very attentive and friendly and the menus were in Spanish, English and German, as was the service. There was also an attractive complete menu for €17 I think. Unfortunately we were the only diners, though there were lots of people drinking on the terrace. We will be going back, because it was really a good experience, but we're worried this restaurant will fail like the previous ones, for the reasons given above. It would be a real pity because quality like this is not that common.

Si visitas Altea y no te importa alejarte un poco en coche esta es una opción que te permitirá disfrutar de un espacio amplio y abierto con atención de calidad. Los precios pueden resultar un poco elevados pero el contexto lo merece. En cuanto a la calidad de la comida también la disfrutamos, especialmente el strogonoff.

Restaurante con buenas vistas. Pedimos unos entrantes para compartir, tartar de atún, calamares, ensalada con vieiras, todo muy rico. El equipo de camareros muy atentos, profesionales y simpáticos. Sitio muy recomendable.
