The crunchy red salsa was the best I've ever tasted, and my dining companion agreed. It was sweet and flavorful, featuring tomatoes, cilantro, and perhaps some other ingredients. We also ordered the guacamole, advertised as "the best you'll ever have." While I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was the absolute best guacamole, it was definitely quite good and possibly the most I’ve ever received for just $5. The guacamole was mild, but when I mixed in some of the salsa, it became fantastic. The portion was substantial enough to easily serve four people. With just the two of us, we were nearly full from the chips, salsa, and guacamole alone! I tried the molletes from the tortas menu, which was delicious, though I wouldn't choose it again due to its challenging nature to eat. It was an open-faced sandwich topped with cheese, but both the bread and cheese were thick and tough to bite through. However, the toppings were tasty enough that I ended up spooning them out and eating them separately. My companion ordered the enchilada torta, which came with marinated pork and a special sauce. He said it was excellent and would definitely order it again. The only downsides I can mention are that the menu is somewhat limited and the service was a bit slow—though I wouldn’t complain about the wait since the guacamole is made to order. If you arrive before 3 PM, the menu includes some affordable lunch options for just $5, but otherwise, menu items range from $10 to $20.
As a native Californian, I've grown up enjoying Mexican cuisine, and the team at La Mexicana truly knows their craft. Finding good Mexican food in the Lehigh Valley can be quite a challenge; some local spots that call themselves "Mexican" don't even compare to Taco Bell. If you're looking for a delicious, affordable, and authentic meal, I highly recommend visiting La Mexicana. Their tacos and fajitas are outstanding!
