Just moved into the area and came across this restaurant, which I’m very happy about! I got it packed to go and everything was packed nicely! As expected, the food is really good and fresh!
Hello, I'm Linda. I visited this restaurant once and found the staff to be polite, and the food was delicious and very fresh. I would definitely go back again. Best, Linda D.R. from Aldergrove.
I'm not usually a fan of what I consider novelty rolls, which many places have, but the house roll was decent. However, I didn’t care much for the spicy tuna topping, which I thought was a bit too soft for my liking. The meal began with a refreshing ebi sunomono and miso soup, making it a great value at $16.95. On my next visit, I tried their homemade gyoza, which were excellent. They had a thin skin and were served hot, with a lovely sear. The Takoyaki were also impressive. This is significant to me because it's the one treat that encourages me to endure the crowds at the Richmond Night Market. I’ve had Takoyaki at other places that were undercooked and resembled raw pancake batter, but at Maruya, they were done perfectly. I love watching the bonito flakes dance as they hit the hot Takoyaki. Finally, I decided to try Aburi, having one piece of salmon and one piece of tuna for the first time. Perhaps it's just not for me, even though it's a popular trend right now; the sear seemed to compromise what would have otherwise been great nigiri. I definitely plan to return to Maruya!
Delicious! The food here is really good, but the portion sizes could be larger, especially for the chicken yakiudon.
