I must say we were somewhat confused what menus and spaces were in play when we...were booking tho bar/brewpub vs restaurant vs perhaps a note fine dining menu???????? it all seemed to be one and the same. I say it was chilled because the beer was just that, so was the feeling of the brewpub environment but so were we .... drenched and extremely chilled!! Brrrrrr So thank god for the gorgeous fire place burning. We asked for a table near the fire and the extremely friendly waitress was very accommodating. She also provided great help with a bit of beer testing guidance. The schnitzels (with, I think, a bit of Parmesan in the crumbing perhaps) were VERY GOOD. One of a few standout schnitzels in Adelaide that have a tiny something extra than just ‘same old’.... but it might have been the nice salad too! Definitely a repeater!
Ok, first off all, looking for a decent standard beer as 2 I tried were too fruity. Like beer mixed with passion fruit arghhh. And it was Pale?!?! Otherwise the restaurant looked awesome but, no TVs so we could get an update on who...was winning the AFL!
My family visited 'Fare' restaurant on a cold winter night. The first impression was a cool and stylish atmosphere. We quickly received the beverage list. However, I noticed a discrepancy between the hard copy menu and the online menu. The dish I wanted for my children had been changed to something more like pub food. I opted for the crispy herring, which turned out to be essentially fish and chips. While the batter and chips were crispy, the fish itself lacked flavor. My daughter's steak was excellent, but my husband's risotto was average. The chocolate fondant dessert was delicious, and the decaf cappuccino was hot and tasty. The appetizer of babaganoush with Barossa Bark was delightful, with a nice balance of crispy and creamy textures. The waitress was kind and helpful, but the lack of heating made the cold 9C temperature outside uncomfortable inside the restaurant with its wooden floors and high ceiling. The drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, were varied and tasty. Overall, it was a relaxing experience, but the food did not meet our expectations and the room was too cold.
This restaurant is a lovely spot for either lunch or dinner. It has a wonderful atmosphere, friendly service, and serves high-quality food. I especially appreciate their feminist values and commitment to social responsibility. I was also impressed with how they took a stand during the pandemic to prioritize the safety of their customers.
I would give this restaurant a zero rating if I could, aside from the rude employee. The employees act like they are the health inspectors. We overheard them making negative comments about another customer. The chefs they have hired are not skilled. My medium rare steak was overcooked and my friend's swordfish was dry. For the price we paid, we expect higher quality. The restaurant was mostly empty and now I understand why.
