カフェ Kāi Yáng Tái

This café with a fantastic view from the open terrace is known for its honey soft serve ice cream. They also offer gelato, so it's hard to choose between the two. In the end, I went with the gelato. There are benches outside the café at several spots. You will need to climb stairs to reach the café. Visit: 6/2022.

I had been to Kaitai before, but this café was a first for me. I purchased the highly recommended No. 1 honey soft serve (¥480 tax included). The staff was very friendly and provided great service. The taste of the honey soft serve was exquisite! I usually don't like honey, but this was delicious. It is made with soft serve using milk from Nakashibetsu and topped with golden honey from wildflowers around Kaitai. It was refreshing yet rich, not overly sweet. And enjoying the soft serve while looking at the view from Kaitai on a clear day was the best! Next time, I might try their hot dogs. Thank you for the meal!

I tried the honey soft serve ice cream. The combination of soft serve and honey was really good. However, in the end it was too sweet and too much for me. There were graffiti from tourists everywhere, which was also interesting to see.
